MAKE AN IPOD PLAYLIST ! ! !! @#@!

There's a challenge on newgrounds going on. It involves making a song with out any drums. Of course most people will just make a song with drums then mute it. Which made me think...

Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Dance, or any other popular genre. Can be broken down to simple parts.

* Melody
* Chords
* Texture/Ambience/"feel"
* Drums
* Vocals

Of course we all know it's not necessary to have vocals in a song. Nor is it neccesarry to have a texture, a melody, chords, or a drum beat.

If you can take out any these parts and still make a quality song, what is a song? what does a song really need? What classifies as 'music'? and if it isn't music does that means it's not enjoyable? should you try to fit certain rules instead of trying to create enjoyable art?

I love music, but unfortunatly not for a long time you'll hear another 'grand orchestrated instrumental' as my friend infinite describes them. It's not a cry for attention, it's not a plea for more reviews. It's simply that it takes more effort to create a piece then I feel comfortable with. To help illustrate I'll give you an idea of my set up.

-Computer + Upgraded 2 Gigs
-Stock mouse.
-Piece of shit speakers that don't show ANY bass.
-No keyboard.

Now I've been working with these limits for years. and at some points, i've had no harddrive space and no mouse. My middle finger still hurts from that hot insensitive mouse pad that created Surburban Galaxy.

After years, my fingers hurt, my eyes are in pain, bass is unknown, but ideas won't stop growing. I want my music to become something more then what I can realistically do at this point. I know it's possible, but I don't believe it's worth it.

I'll continue to use FL for side projects, birthdays, and just general time killing. Just don't expect anything from me for a long time.
